Is Therapy Right for You?

I’m gonna make a bold statement and say that if you clicked on this–I think you should try counseling and it would be good for you.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with going to a counselor. They are wonderful people that do what they do for you. It’s also super common. I’d say it’s even like going to the doctor for a check up. You don’t have to be sick, but just double check that everything is working okay. Or maybe you need help making a big decision. It’s also super common to go through marriage counseling before getting married, or years into the marriage. Again, it’s more normal than you think it is.

Of course, there are also times where you are struggling and need a little extra help, and counseling is great for that too. They have been trained for so many different situations. It can be hard to admit you need more, especially if you’re struggling, but the benefits outweigh the costs.

There’s also a good chance they take your insurance, so it really is affordable. If the place you’re looking at doesn’t accept your insurance, keep looking because there are other places that will take it most likely.

Something really cool that also exists is Christian counseling. This is especially helpful for staying rooted in truth. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” -Romans 12:2. You know what this means? Renewing your mind in counseling is biblical. We are not meant to deal with everything on our own. We can’t. There are people in this world that are happy to help so much that this is what they do for a living.

At the end of the day, is one session really going to hurt? It’s totally up to you and you don’t have to go back if you don’t want to. You might not find the right fit the first time, maybe even the second time, but if this is something you’re interested in I definitely recommend at least trying.

If you’re having trouble finding places feel free to head over to my contact page and tell me what city you’re near and I can send some links to help you in your search!
